Spartanburg police investigate home invasion

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg Police said they were investigating a home invasion in which an elderly couple was robbed at gunpoint.

Police said they were called to the couple's home on Montview Street just after 7 PM Friday.

The man and wife, both in their late 60s, who lived at the home told police they returned from buying dinner at Wade's restaurant, and found a man standing in a darkened room wearing dark clothes and a stocking cap.

When the wife asked the man why he was standing there in the dark, she told police the man pointed a gun at her told her to give him her money, according to reports.

The husband said he heard the commotion and saw his wife backing out of their sitting room followed by the gunman, according to reports.

The couple told police the gunman ordered them to put their heads on the floor.

Police said the suspect then took the husband's wallet and the wife's purse and ran out of the house.

Police have not yet named any suspects in the case.
