TIFTON, GA (WALB) -
Brother Charlie's Rescue Center in Tifton is relaxing its requirements to get into the shelter because of the expected cold weather this weekend.
Rod Maggert, the center's case manager, said they're reducing the amount of paperwork people have to fill out.
"We relax a lot of [the] forms and paperwork when it is this cold so it's much easier for them to get in," Maggert said.
Maggert doesn't expect the cold weather to create a huge influx of people, but he does expect to fill a few extra beds.
"We'll get 5-10 extra people...we generally got 35-40 men in here anyway. We've got capacity up to 60," Maggert pointed out.
Brother Charlie's Rescue Center is a men's only shelter, but they are open 24/7 and Maggert said the shelter will make every effort to help find other shelters for families looking for a place to stay or get out of the cold.
