VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

We now know more about the fiery and deadly semi crash in Lowndes County last Saturday.

The Valdosta GSP says there were two men in the truck when it stopped at a rest stop in Cordele.

They say the trucks owner was driving the truck when it pulled into the rest stop and that the second person was a new hire for the trucking company and was riding along with the truck's owner.
When the truck's owner got out of the truck, the other man hopped in the driver's seat and drove off.

"The owner of the truck advised that the driver at the time of the crash was actually a passenger in the truck, recent hire for the company," said SFC. Carl Taylor, Post Commander for the Valdosta GSP post.

"The owner of the truck was actually driving at the time in Cordele, when they stopped for some reason. At this time, this subject took control of the vehicle and proceeded South on I-75," continued Taylor.

Taylor says there are a few minor details they're still investigating, but as far as the crash is concerned their investigation is complete.
