ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A startling crash in an Central Albany neighborhood takes out one homeowners mailbox.

Several people stood outside their homes Wednesday night watching, while fire fighters and Albany police assisted in a rollover crash in the 600 block of Gaines Avenue.

Fire officials say there was one driver in the car, and no one was injured. The homeowner whose mailbox was demolished, says he was inside when he heard a loud boom.

"We heard a loud noise and that's when we looked out the window, and I saw where a truck flipped over on its side and we come out to see how serious it was and that the guy was trapped on the inside and I told my grandson to call the police," says Robin Burke.

One Albany resident, who lives in the neighborhood, says this is not the first time they've had a crash on this road. She's hoping city officials will take action to make the area safer.

"We are very concerned about the accident because we have been trying to get the city of Albany to do some different things with the speed and the traffic on this street,"  says Pearlie Dawson, an East Albany resident.

The homeowner whose mailbox was demolished says he plans to have the damages assessed tomorrow.
