TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

Sparks Police say three people were inside a rented Cadillac SUV when its driver tried to evade an officer and crashed in Tift County.

It happened just before 11:30 a.m. on Old Union Road near Oakridge Road Tuesday.

Georgia State Patrol joined in pursuing the three and deployed stop sticks during the chase, but the

The driver of the SUV led police  and Georgia State Patrol on a chase before hitting a ditch and rolling the vehicle over several times.

Officials say the passengers inside were thrown out of the SUV. The driver, Timothy Lee Strawter, ran from the crash scene but was captured by investigators a short time later.

Sparks Police said Strawter was wanted in Florida on felony firearm and drug charges.

One passenger was taken to Tift Regional Hospital, and the other was taken to another area hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

GSP is continuing the investigation and charges are expected.
