GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Georgetown Police say tips from the public led to the arrest of an armed robbery suspect.

According to their Facebook page, Georgetown Police arrested 33-year-old Willie Edwards, of Pawleys Island, in connection with the incident on December 23rd.

Police say Edwards forced his way into the backseat of a car in the 100 block of Orange St, and demanded money.  The driver then drove the suspect to an ATM and withdrew money.  While returning to Orange St, police say the driver then jumped out of the vehicle, and the suspect ran away on foot.

Police later released a surveillance picture showing the suspect in the backseat of the car.  They credit tips from the public in assisting with the arrest.

Edwards is charged with armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, kidnapping, and carjacking.  He is currently at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
