FLOWERY BRANCH, GA (CBS46) -

Tony Gonzalez played in the final game of his storied career Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

The 37-year-old tight end caught four passes for 56 yards in a loss to Carolina.

Gonzalez intended on retiring in 2012 only to return to the Falcons in the middle of training camp this season.

Gonzalez says history will not repeat itself.  He's done for good this time.

The 17-year veteran played his first 12 seasons with Kansas City after being drafted by the Chiefs 13th overall in the 1997 draft.

He spent his last five seasons with Atlanta.

Gonzalez finishes his career with 1,325 receptions, 15,127 yards and 111 touchdowns, according to NFL.com.
