Fireworks stands set up for New Year's sales

Posted: Updated:

Workers at firework stands around town say they expect to sell thousands of the non-explosive fireworks this year.

Its illegal in the state of Georgia to posses or sell fireworks that explode or fly through the air, but certain types of sparklers are allowed.

One stand on Ledo Rd. opened today and will continue business through tomorrow or until they sell out.    Some of their most popular include "colorful rain" which lasts for over a minute

"Oh I think its just a matter of a family get together and a way to celebrate the last year that is ending and all of its accomplishments and victories and maybe lessons learned and then welcoming in the New Year," says Manager Sandra Hesketh.

You can actually preview  what a firework looks like by scanning a barcode with an app on your iphone or android phone. A video of the display will pop up.
