(RNN) - Russian authorities have reported that a trolleybus blast in Volgograd, Russia, killed at least 14 people Monday. That death toll is expected to rise, according to CNN.
This blast occurred a day after a deadly bombing at a train station in the same city Sunday killed at least 18, according to a CNN report. Both blasts were blamed on suicide bombers.
Caucasus Emirate, a Chechen terrorist group, has been behind several bombings in Russia, the most deadly of which was a Moscow subway bombing in 2010, CNN said. In July, Doku Umarov, its leader, threatened to disrupt the Sochi Olympics, the State Department stated.
The explosions comes as the Winter Olympics in Sochi is only about two months away. Sochi is only 100 miles away from the long-volatile north Caucasus region, according to the State Department.
