Kinchafoonee expected to surpass flood stage

Posted: Updated:
LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

The Kinchafoonee Creek is approaching flood stage in Lee County.

A look at the creek from the U.S. 19 bridge shows the water is up.

The creek started rising after heavy rain on Sunday and Monday.

It's expected to pass flood stage of 13 feet Thursday morning, but don't worry. The National Weather Service predicts the creek will crest at 14.7 feet Friday. That's not high enough to cause any problems.
