FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) -

Ben Hill County Sheriff Bobby McLemlore confirms to WALB that the man they believe shot a clerk Monday night is in jail in Fitzgerald. McLemore did not provide details on the arrest or the name of the suspect.

The victim, 19 year old Krishna Patel, remains in hospital at Dorminy Medical Center, but could be released soon.

Authorities conducted an intense search for the gunman who shot Patel during a hold up Monday night. He got away in a semi-truck.

Police released surveillance pictures from the 107 Express on Benjamin Hill Drive, West.

Investigators say around 7:30, a man armed with a silver handgun and wearing a dark hoodie robbed the store, and shot Patel three times.

The robber drove off in a semi truck with a 53' foot trailer with 'Western Express' written on the side.

The gunman is said to be in his late 20's.
