Defense, rebounding pushes Florida past Fresno St.

SUNRISE, FL (RNN) - Florida held Fresno State to 19 first-half points, and Casey Praither scored 16 to lift the Gators to a 66-49 win in the second game of the Metro PCS Orange Bowl Classic.

The No. 15 Gators (9-2) needed a strong defensive effort in the first half because they only managed to score 23 points. That total nearly doubled after halftime, spurred on by a strong rebounding effort from Will Yeguete, who had a game-high 10.

Florida outrebounded the Bulldogs (6-6) 47-24 in the game.

That didn't mean the Gators' defense let down in the final 20 minutes, however. Florida held a team that averaged 24 3-point attempts per game to 4-of-17 shooting from long range. Fresno State shot just 32 percent overall from the field and lost its third consecutive game.

Cezar Guerrero led the Bulldogs with 17 points.
