Students support St. Jude Children's Hospital with special program

Posted: Updated:

Students at Deerfield-Windsor Lower School held a Christmas program to support St. Jude Children's Hospital for the 34th straight year Friday.

The students came up with ideas to raise money to buy Christmas gifts for patients at the hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Joe Farris, The St. Jude Santa who delivers presents to the hospital twice a year, attended Friday to gather the gifts.

"We're very proud that our children do little jobs to earn money to buy the gifts that they present to the St. Jude children," said Lower School Director Cary Stoudenmire. "Plus many of them do lemonade stands or ask children to bring donations in lieu of birthday gifts when they have birthday parties and that sort of thing."

The school donated more than 300 gifts for the children at St. Jude.
