UPS will process more than 4 million packages in two days.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE)
- They say it's the most wonderful time of the year, but it's also the busiest
time of the year for some employees in Louisville.
Thursday marks the
busiest shipping day of the year for UPS and inside the UPS Worldport Santa's helpers were working hard to get all those holiday gifts on
"We know leading up
to the peak, that schedules are going to get very busy, there's going to be a
lot of extra flights, it's our Super Bowl time, it's our time to shine," said
Assistant Chief Pilot Jeff White Whiteman.
Over the next two
days, UPS will process more than 4 million packages. Due to that volume, an
additional 1,300 seasonal employees were hired.
UPS Spokesperson Jeff
Wafford said, "The seasonal employees range quite a bit in lifestyle,
everything from people home from college to people who have other jobs and just
want to earn some extra Christmas cash."
Stimulating the local
economy, while keeping the competitive edge.
"Everybody's ready and we know we're on
showcase for the holiday season," he said.

internationally, we'll take off out of Louisville and go direct to Honolulu or
direct to Cologne, Germany and fly around the world or it might be a turn out
