VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A 45 year old man is dead after being run over by a train early Wednesday morning in Valdosta.

According to investigators, the man was either walking along or laying down on the train tracks near the intersection of Baytree Road and  Gordon Street.

The GBI in Thomasville and the Remerton Police Department are investigating. The victim's name has not been released because next of kin has not been notified yet.

Special Agent Steve Turner with the GBI in Thomasville said the autopsy could reveal more information, but at this time they do not believe foul play was involved.

Investigators with the Remerton Police Department where not available for comments.
