11-month-old dies following Harrison County crash

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An 11-month-old girl has died six days after a motor vehicle crash in Harrison County, Indiana that killed a toddler and a Navy serviceman.

According to Harrison County Sheriff's Deputy Eric Fischer, a 23-year-old Navy sailor from Missouri was driving a Nissan on Interstate 64 near mile marker 106 on the morning of December 12 when he crossed the median and crashed into the path of a Mercury Mountaineer driven by a grandmother. Her daughter and two grandchildren were passengers.

Harrison County Coroner Rusty Sizemore identified the toddler who was killed as 2-year-old Marissa Summers of Laconia, Indiana.

The 11-month-old child, who was rushed to Kosair Children's Hospital following the crash, died Wednesday, according to Kosair spokesman Brian Rublein. Jefferson County Deputy Coroner R.D. Jones identified the 11-month-old as Brynlee Summers. Jones said Brynlee died from multiple injuries as a result of the crash.

The grandmother and mother who were in the Mountaineer with the children were not injured.
