ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Ten stitches line Felton Walls head. It's a lucky wound considering it was caused by a bullet that grazed the top of his skull.

Walls is from east Albany, and says it's a blessing he's not dead after a botched robbery resulted in the wound to his head.

"I'm glad God was looking over me," said Walls.

He said he and a friend were driving through the parking lot of Southgate Plaza on South Slappey on December 15th when two young men flagged them down near Save-A-Lot and asked for a lighter.

"When he asked me for the lighter, one of the dudes pulled a gun out and tried to rob me," recalled Walls. "One of my friends in the car with me tried to knock the gun out of his hand, and when he did I pulled off and the dude took one shot."

The bullet shattered the back window of his Nissan Xterra. But the ball cap Walls was wearing might have been his lucky charm. It's easy to see where the bullet traveled from one end and out the other.

"When I realized I had got hit, I got my friend to drive me straight to the hospital," said Walls. "When I got to the hospital everybody told me I was just lucky to be here, just lucky to still be alive."

While the shooters haven't been caught, Walls says he's just thankful to know he'll be around for Christmas.

"I'm just happy to still be here so I can celebrate with my family, my friends, and my son,"
