Winning numbers chosen in near-record lottery jackpot
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
A lot of south Georgians joined the Mega Millions frenzy, hoping to cash in on a near record lottery jackpot.
Tuesday night's Mega Millions prize was $636 million, the second biggest jackpot in U.S. history.
A clerk at an east Albany Shell station told us she was busy selling tickets all day. "We've been busy ever since 2 o'clock with long lines. We've had people coming in wanting 175 tickets at one time," said Angela Edwards.
A lottery player in northwest Albany said she would do good things with all that money. Shamarra Mack said, "My mother recently died from breast cancer, and I just really want to try to give back to the community, do something for my kids and do something for myself at the same time. "
The winning numbers were chosen at 11 p.m. They are 8, 20, 14, 17, 39 and the megaball is 7.
