BLAKELY, GA (WALB) -

The brother of a former south Georgia Sheriff was killed when a mobile home fell on him Monday afternoon in Blakely.

The Early County Sheriff's Department says 63-year old Billy Ray Murkerson was pronounced dead at Pioneer Medical Center.

Murkerson is the brother of former Early County Sheriff Jimmie Murkerson.

The department says Murkerson was helping to move a mobile home on Howell Street and Rose Drive Monday afternoon.

The mobile home shifted during the move and Murkerson was working repair the problem when the accident happened.

Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home says funeral arrangements for Billy Ray Murkerson will be announced later.

The Early County Sheriff's Department does express their condolences to the Murkerson family.
