ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Are you putting on some extra weight this holiday season? The Albany Area YMCA is about to kick off a fun weight-loss program.

Team Lean is a 12 week competition for YMCA members and non-members. Teams of up to five can win cash prizes if they lose the highest percentage of weight. You workout at the location of your choice but must weigh in as a group at the Albany or Lee County YMCA.

"We need to take the initiative to actually take better care of ourselves, so we can be healthier individuals. We can be better grandmothers, and grandfathers and be great role models for our kids and grand kids," said Mary Ganzel.

There is a penalty fee for missing weigh-ins and gaining extra pounds. You must weigh in each Wednesday between the times of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. or 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Albany or Lee County YMCA.  Registration at both locations goes through January 7th.  The first weigh in is January 8th. The last weigh in is on April 2nd. For more information click here.
