Poole out after 11 years as Dougherty AD

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Donald Poole is no longer the Dougherty High Athletic Director.

DCHS Principal Robert McIntosh tells WALB Poole was removed as the school's AD after concerns within the program arose.

"During the course of looking at various programs, we had some legitimate concerns with athletics," says McIntosh. "As we investigated more, we found some issues we really needed to address and we felt it was the time to go ahead and make the move right now to move the athletic program in a new direction."

McIntosh would not offer specifics on those concerns, citing it as a personnel matter.

Poole declined to comment. He will remain with the school as a teacher and head boys' basketball coach.

Assistant principal Jerome Register will serve as the interim athletic director through the end of the year.
