NEA Baptist celebrates new hospital and clinic

Posted: Updated:

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The new NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital and Clinic held a ribbon cutting and dedication Tuesday.

The ceremony brought together leaders in government and medicine, as the new campus readies to open doors to patients.

People have watched as crews constructed the new NEA Baptist medical campus over the past two-and-a-half years.

Finally, they got to see where all the hard work went during today's ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony.

Brad Parsons, NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital CEO said, "We're so close to the opening of the new hospital. We're just very excited."

Parsons said in just a few weeks time, the hospital can finally open its doors and move in the patients.

NEA Baptist spent 400-million dollars to build the sprawling 85-acre medical campus. It houses the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital, the Clinic and the Cancer Center.

Governor Mike Beebe said the day was more than just honoring a brand new building.

"Every person who devotes their life to health care, to make things better for the rest of us are who we really celebrate," Gov. Beebe said.

NEA Baptist also announced that it's renaming the Cancer Center after the Fowler family.

The Fowlers gave the largest gift in the hospital's history, creating an endowment to assist cancer patients.

The NEA Baptist medical campus will not officially open until sometime after the New Year, but the community at large can get a special sneak peek inside this weekend.

The hospital and clinic will host an open house this Sunday for anyone that would like to come and take a tour.
