ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Family members of a slain Dougherty County Police officer ask South Georgians to remember law enforcement this Christmas.

Project Blue Light encourages you to put a blue light of any kind in a window at your home to show support for officers.

A special blue light display at Dougherty County Police headquarters honors Dougherty County Police Lt. Cliff Rouse and Albany Police Corporal Terry Lewis Fleming. Both were killed in the line of duty in the last two years.

"We face a lot of obstacles and we face, you know, a meaner, rougher world today," said Dougherty Co. Police Captain Thomas Jackson. "Anything that helps us do our job better, safely.  People that are looking out for us can always help us accomplish our mission."

Project Blue Light picked blue lights because the color blue symbolizes peace to send a dual message of supporting America's peacekeepers and hoping for a peaceful coming year.
