A Jones County man is thankful to be alive after falling into a creek.
The Jones County Fire Council says the unidentified 64-year-old man tumbled approximately 35 feet down a steep embankment Monday.
His wife alerted authorities. Volunteer firefighters from two units responded and rescued the man.
"It's a good thing his wife found him when she did, and that he didn't try to float on down the creek," Glade Fire Chief Dan McKenna. "It could have been a different outcome."
