LACEY'S SPRING, AL (WAFF) -

Morgan County has taken a step forward with its Pre-K program.

Monday, local and state officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Lacey's Spring School, where the county has added a total of seven new first-class Pre-K classrooms.

Bill Hopkins, Superintendent for Morgan County Schools, said the installation of the new classrooms demonstrates the district's passion and love for community children.

"It continues to be the number-one focus and it will always be the number-one focus as long as we have the leaders in our school system and in our communities," Hopkins said.

The county got funding for the classrooms after the state legislature approved a funding increase.
