HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The push continues to relocate Boeing's 777x project to Huntsville. Something that the Huntsville community has in its corner is the continued success Boeing has already had in Huntsville.

Jim Chilton, the Vice President and General Manager of Boeing Strategic Missile and Defense Systems, said, "The heart of our missile and missile defense business is right here in Huntsville, Alabama."

In late October, Boeing delivered its 2000th PAC-3 Missile Seeker to the Army. There are roughly 2,650 employees who work at Boeing in Huntsville. Of those workers, Chilton said, "You are outstanding. We couldn't be prouder."

The PAC-3 missile seeker is part of the Patriot Weapon Systems and is designed to intercept and destroy enemy missiles.

Brigadier General Neil Thurgood is the Program Executive Officer of Missile and Space on Redstone Arsenal. At a celebration to mark the 2000th delivery, he said, "Our soldiers don't build weapons. It's the great companies like Boeing that build weapon systems, but our soldiers fight this weapon system so as we build them today, which is music to my ears, it's also the sound of our soldiers."

The 2000th PAC-3 Seeker came in ahead of scheduled and right on budget.
