Drop your drugs with ADDU

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

You no longer have to wait for a special pill drop event to get rid of expired or unwanted medicine. A permanent pill drop box is now located on the second floor of the Albany Dougherty Drug Unit headquarters.

You can drop off prescription pills from 9 to 4 Monday through Friday. They don't want liquids.

Officials recommend you pull your information off the pill bottle. They'll dispose of the medications properly.

"If they had some pills that are prescriptions, have expired or out of date.  Instead of leaving them around the house and the kids get into them, or somebody accidentally takes one, they can come on and drop it down," said A.D.D.U. Commander Major Bill Berry.

The pill drop box was furnished by the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators in Atlanta.

It's on the second floor of ADDU headquarters at 700 Pine Avenue.
