WALB's Most Wanted: Bobby Smith

Bobby Smith Bobby Smith
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An escapee who continues to elude capture could still be hiding in south Georgia.

This is Bobby Smith. We have shown you his picture several times. He was wrapping up a murder sentence at the Albany Transitional Center when he escaped. He failed to return from his job two weeks ago and has been on the run since.

Law officers believe he may have tried to pawn a watch he purchased. He's been spotted at least  three times over the past couple of weeks, including Monday when a worker at Oak Hill Dairy in Lee County said he came into contact with Smith.

A second manhunt was conducted, but he once again managed to slip away.  Smith was convicted of murder in DeKalb County in 1987 and only had a few weeks remaining on his sentence.  Smith is 5 foot 8 and weighs 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket with a back pack.

Sheriff's officials in Lee County are urging residents to be on the lookout for Smith. If you see him or know where he's hiding, contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office or call 911. Tonight Bobby Smith becomes one of WALB's Most Wanted.
