ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Marine Base wants to get the word out about their training exercise set for today and next week.

Officials at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany have announced an active shooter training exercise scheduled to take place throughout the base today and next Wednesday, December 11.

On both days, the exercises are scheduled to begin at three separate start times: 9:30 – 9:45 a.m.; 2:30 – 2:45 p.m.; and 7:30 -7:45 p.m.

The purpose of these exercises is to test the installation's mass notification system and exercise emergency action plans.

The trainings will be conducted at different times and on different days to allow employees and family members the flexibility to take advantage of at least one opportunity to practice their emergency action plans for an active shooter incident.

All notifications, whether verbal or written, will start and end with ‘EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE.'

The training will be available for everyone at the installation, and all tenant commands and family members are encouraged to participate.

Base officials are planning a full-scale active shooter exercise in January.
