ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Filling out applications, resume building and online job searches is what those at the Goodwill Career center specialize in. This week they are dedicating their facility to a 5 day job fair.

"I don't think people in the community know that there is help here, that they can help find jobs, they can get job training, its been great for me," Goodwill processor Theresa Cooper said.

Cooper attended a job fair with Goodwill three and half years ago and with the help of staff she was able to land and hold a position as a Goodwill processor. Success stories like this one is what advisors at the career center are striving for this week, bringing in several different employers looking new staff.  Advisors are also teaming up with the Albany Parks and Rec for a special veterans hiring day.

"You know if they're just getting out, its kind of hard to transition from that military to the civilian life, just coming in and coaching them on how civilian workforce works is something I've seen that has been positive," Goodwill Resource Manager Brittney Copeland said.

In recent times Copeland has noticed an increase in those who attend interview and resume courses. She believes people are now marketing themselves more efficiently, making job fairs like this one more important. For Theresa Cooper, it's what helped her regain her skills.

"And go back to work and be part of society and that's what we all want," Cooper shares.

Cooper hopes to move up in her department and says she ready to excel in something new.

The job fair takes place all week with veterans hiring day starting Thursday at 9am at the Albany Goodwill Career Center located off on North Slappey Blvd.
