ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Georgia DOT says that weather permitting, railroad crews will be reconstructing a rail crossing on U.S. Highway 27/State Route 1 in Early County.

Both north and southbound traffic will be detoured; the route will be posted via changeable message signs in advance of the work.

Omni Trax Railroad crews will also be renovating a rail crossing on U.S. Highway 84/State Route 38.  Both east and westbound traffic will be detoured through Morven.

The work will start Monday, December 9, and continue through Friday, December 13.

The roads affected are US 27/SR 1 at Georgia Southwestern Railroad crossing near mile post 12.5 on the eastside of Blakely, and US 84/SR 38 at Omni Trax Railroad crossing in Quitman between Highland Road and Girard Street.

Drive cautiously through these areas.
