ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany's official Christmas tree is in place. It arrived at its spot outside the government center this afternoon.

Water Gas and Light workers will decorate the nearly 30 foot tall with almost 4,000 energy efficient LED lights to get it ready for Saturday's parade.

"It symbolizes that the Christmas parade can't be far behind which will be Saturday, and as anybody seen the commercial know we are honoring Joe Coursen this year, who was a wonderful reporter at Channel 10, and his family will be lighting the tree to kickoff the parade," said Lori Farkas, Water Gas & Light.

The parade starts at 6 PM Saturday. Pre-parade festivities will start about 5 PM.
