Is Albany's economy turning around?

Mary Carter Mary Carter
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

One real estate agent says it's on the way up.      Mary Carter is closing a deal on a Waffle House restaurant on Ledo road near a new car dealership.

She's also working on a deal to build a Waffle House at the old Bank of America property downtown.

Carter says big chains know Albany is a retail hub that attracts hundreds of thousands of shoppers.

"A lot of other developments that are being attracted to this area...it always spurs more economic growth.  So I think there's a lo of developers and retailers looking in this area to expand."

Carter says several developments around the mall may lead to higher real estate values in that area.

She says the Waffle House on Ledo Road will likely be built in three-to-four months.  She hopes to have the downtown Waffle House finalized within the next few weeks.
