ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A south Albany church collaborated with a local business to give a little holiday cheer to those in need through some turkey and stuffing.

Thursday, the New Macedonia Baptist Church and the Martin Luther King Funeral Home provided nearly 400 meals for their first Thanksgiving feeding.

A line of hungry people were waiting outside the sanctuary before the doors opened at 10:00AM.  Once inside, they were greeted with a smile and a hot plate of food.

The pastor said the region has been most affected by the economic downturn, and is happy to have a chance to give back.

"What we want to do is be a blessing every chance in every seasonal event that comes on our calendar," said Rev. Ronald Brown, New Macedonia Baptist Church.  "So Christmas is another area that we're looking forward to doing something awesome for this community."

Brown said the church delivered over a hundred meals to nursing homes and the homeless before noon.

Meals were available until 3:00pm.  They're looking for donors to help make a special Christmas for those in need.

To help make someone's holiday season, contact the New Macedonia Baptist Church at (229)436-0200, or call the Martin Luther King Funeral Home at (229) 435-4813.
