SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A 35-year-old Savannah man was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday morning on Wilmington Island.

Officials say Jonathan Edwards, 35, of Savannah, was killed when he was struck by a vehicle on Johnny Mercer Boulevard just east of the Spencer Grayson Bridge over Turner's Creek.

According to Savannah-Chatham Metro, Edwards was walking on the roadway when he was struck just after midnight. The vehicle did not stop.

Jessica Krebs, 25, was identified as the driver of the vehicle shortly after police were called to the scene. She called police from her residence to report her windshield had been broken.

Krebs has been charged with driving under the influence, hit and run with fatal injuries and first degree vehicular homicide.

SCMPD's Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate.
