ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some South Georgia kids are learning to defend themselves.

Albany Technical College hosted a self-defense class Monday night sponsored by the Albany Recreation and Parks Department. Kids learned what to do if they're approached by a stranger.

One mother told us she believes the class will help protect children. Jennifer Houzman said, "I want them to be prepared, and I thought this would be a good way for them to learn something. Sometimes they do not want to listen to us and what we tell them on how to do things, so I thought someone else instructing them on how to be safe and ways to get away from somebody who is trying to abduct them or hurt them would be a good opportunity for them."

Tuesday night, the Recreation Department will put on a self-defense course for adults. It starts tomorrow at 6:30 in the Kirkland Building at Albany Tech.
