SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

A Sylvester outreach center hit by thieves has been overwhelmed with donations from people who saw our story about the crime. After burglars stole food from the Family Vision Outreach center, the director worried they would only be able to feed ten families in need for  Thanksgiving, but now they have enough to help 100 families.

Volunteers at the Family vision outreach center are busy packing thousands of pounds of food they received from churches and organizations around Southwest Georgia in their time of need.

"They've been bringing food, turkeys, we didn't have turkeys now we have turkeys so we're going to have a good Thanksgiving give away on Monday," said Executive Director Judy Hall.

Burglars broke in through this window on Monday and stole meat, computers and even pampers. Hall says she received several phone calls from people wanting to help. This cooler that was half empty on Monday is now filled to capacity with hams and turkeys. The pantry is also now fully stocked.

"I'm overflowing with joy, I'm overflowing to know that we serve a God who touches the hearts of people, and those people respond by helping others," said Hall.

Worthit2u.net donated this monitor and Ironcraft and Security put up these burglar bars on all their windows worth more than $1200.

"It's sad that people do that to people, and when I can help I like to help some you know, and I could help this time," said Brian Harsh, Ironcraft and Security Owner.

Sylvester Police came to return these computer monitors and pampers that were stolen during the burglary. Sylvester police found the stolen items in this wooded area near the intersection of Jefferson and Pinson Street. Sylvester police believe at least two people are involved in the burglary.

"At this time we are looking for suspects, we have good leads on suspects and we are in the process of getting those suspects arrested that's involved in this case," said Sgt. Kenneth Washington, Sylvester Police Department.

Hall says she wants to thank everyone who supported her organization during their time of need. The Family Vision Outreach Thanksgiving Giveaway is Monday at 10 a.m. If you'd like to contribute donations or receive assistance from them call Judy Hall at 229-777-7704 or visit their facility at 601 W. Price Street. If you have information about the burglary you should call Sylvester police at 776-8500 or 776-8219.
