Drive thru for the flu shot in Adel

ADEL, GA (WALB) -

What do you get your loved one at the holidays who has everything?  The flu vaccine before they're all gone!

To make it more convenient to get yours, come by the Cook County Health Department in Adel on Friday, December 6 for a Drive Thru Flu Clinic from 8:30 am to 1 pm.

The Cook County Health Department will be observing National Influenza Vaccination Week during this time. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu.

People at higher risk for contracting serious flu complications include: young children, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease, and people 65 years and older.

The regular flu vaccine will be available for $25 and is first come, first serve for 6 months of age and older. The high-dose flu vaccine will also be available for anyone 65 years of age and older. Cash, Medicare, Medicaid, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and State Health Benefit Plan (Cigna and United Healthcare) will be accepted.

Those participating in the clinic should enter the back parking lot closest to the police department. Health department staff will be there to further direct patients on what they need to do. For more information call Cook County Health Department at 896-7527.
