BLAKELY, GA (WALB) -

The Blakely/Early County Chamber of Commerce has a new look after undergoing renovations for a year.   The two story Alexander Building is officially open to the public for business.

Renovations started a year ago after structural concerns. The project was funded by the Bynum family along with city and county taxpayers, and private individuals. The Chamber of Commerce president hopes the new building will boost economic development.

"We do hope that this building would spurn economic development throughout Blakely and Early County, we would love to see all of the buildings in the square be renovated at some point in time and so this is really just a stepping stone to get to that point," Marhsall Hooks, Chamber of Commerce President.

The County plans to renovate the Blakely theatre next door at the beginning of next year.
