Mini-chopper drops tobacco into state prison yard

Four people are behind bars in Calhoun County, accused of using a remote-controlled helicopter to drop contraband into the prison there.

Sheriff Josh Hilton says a lieutenant from Calhoun State Prison noticed this small helicopter flying over the gates.

Deputies searched the area and noticed a suspicious black Dodge car with Gwinnett County tags on Edison Street in Morgan.

They got permission to search the car and found the model helicopter and about two pounds of tobacco.

Authorities say the group already made two drops, but prison officials found that contraband.

All four suspects are charged with possession of prohibited items across the guard line.

Hilton commends Lt. Mock, Deputy Dunn and the warden for their quick actions.
