ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Dougherty County police department give back to families in need.

Saint Claire's Neighbors in need rely on donations to continue their mission to help others. Monies from their thrift shop supply's food for the soup kitchen. And the food pantry supplies food bags to their neighbors.

This is the 11th year the police department has dropped off turkey's, canned food and other items to make sure those in need will enjoy a thanksgiving dinner. Detective Tomika Whitlock says "It is great for the department to make sure we get out in the community and let the people know were hear at all times. We all understand the economy is not doing it's best right now and people are in need and we want to step up and make sure they have what they need for Thanksgiving."

St Claires soup kitchen will serve Thanksgiving dinner on Monday afternoon. They expect to feed about 300 people. You can help St. Claire's Neighbors in Need by dropping off non perishable food items. St. Claire's also accepts cash donations.

They are located on Martin Luther King Drive.
