Man accused of killing woman in Midtown found dead in home

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The man accused of shooting and killing a woman on Peachtree Street Wednesday morning was found dead in his home.

The shooting happened at 1230 Peachtree Street N.E. near an office building and the 15th Street MARTA station.

Upon arrival, officers found Bridgette Holt, 47, of Hampton, who was shot several times.

According to witnesses, Holt was going to work at Norfolk Southern when she was approached by a man, who also works at the same place.

Witnesses said Holt and the man spoke for a moment before he pulled out a gun and shot her several times.

Holt was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where she died.

Police later found the gunman dead of an apparent suicide inside his home in Clayton County.

Police have not released the name of the gunman.
