ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany city leaders took a state representative on a tour of the city Tuesday, hoping to get help to meet local challenges.

Senator Freddy Powell Sims and Representative Carol Fullerton met Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and commissioners at Phoebe East for the Georgia municipal Association Hometown Connection initiative.

They toured many properties the city owns.  The mayor says the tour helps educate lawmakers on important local issues.

"The Hometown Connection is all about really making sure we are communicating with our legislators.  That they understand our issues in the...issues that we have to deal with every day," said Mayor Dorothy Hubbard.

Hubbard said the city has participated in the event for the last two years.  She said many property owners have been working with the city to make improvements, and she hopes to continue moving in a positive direction.
