SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah City Council will recognize five Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police officers at the City Council meeting Tuesday.

The officers being recognized are Lt. Dan Flood, Sgt. Yujean Foster, APO Allison Reiss, Ptl. Cameron Nichols and Ptl. Shaun Dobbs, all from Precinct 4.

On October 4, 2013 officers responded to Savannah Cottage at 1310 Whitebluff Road in reference to a missing person. Savannah Cottage is an in-house care facility for Alzheimer's and dementia patients. One of the residents, Hubert Tyler, 79, was missing from the facility.

After two extensive searches of the facility and grounds, officers then saw Tyler about 25-yards out in the marsh. Officer Nichols and Lt. Flood took off their duty gear and dove into the water. Tyler was neck deep in the water and the tide was still coming in. EMS transported Tyler to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Council will recognize the officers who helped pull him to safety at their council meeting starting at 2 p.m. at City Hall, Second Floor.
