The Worth County Coroner has confirmed that the man airlifted to a hospital in Macon has died from his injuries.
According to a report from Worth County Coroner John Johnson, J.D. Gibbs, 91, died just before 5 p.m. Monday.
Officials say the crash happened Sunday afternoon on Sledge Road in Ty Ty. According to GSP, the semi-truck was traveling south and going around a curve when its wheels locked and the driver skidded off the road, hitting the pickup.
Authorities say Gibbs was driving the pickup truck when the crash happened. Gibbs was initially flown to the Macon Medical Center of Middle Georgia with serious injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck that collided with Gibbs, Jimmy Lee Pitts, has been charged with driving too fast for conditions by Georgia State Patrol.
There was no immediate word on whether any other charges will be brought against Pitts.
