SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Monday nights are not high traffic times for the supper trade in Sylvester, and that makes the robbery of one of the town's two Chinese restaurants even more puzzling.

But a young man dresses all in black, with his face covered burst into the small restaurant with a pistol last night. He forcibly tied up the two store employees, and stole the store's cash.

He ran off, but Sylvester Police officers were on the scene quickly and soon had the criminal hemmed up in a small wooded area nearby. Officers found the money taken from the Hot Wok, and the gun Thomas had.

They arrested Wendell Carl "Little Dooly" Thomas, and booked him into the Worth County jail.

SPD says that Thomas is the same man who used a gun to rob the Dairy Queen in Sylvester in 2006. He was just released from prison in July of this year.

"About seven years ago he did an armed robbery of the Dairy Queen here in Sylvester, and he spent about seven years in prison and was just recently released in July of this year," said SPD Lt. Ronnie Graddy.

"Little Dooly" was a person of interest for a home invasion armed robbery in Sylvester in August and another home invasion armed robbery in Sylvester on September.

The Sylvester Police Department issued this release on the case-

On Monday evening, November 18, 2013, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a black male, wearing all black, and having his face covered, entered the Hot Wok restaurant at 105 East Franklin Street in Sylvester.

The black male, armed with a small framed handgun, tied up the two store employees and robbed the store.  The black male then exited the business in an attempt to flee when Sgt. Nicole White, Cpl. Jonathan Luna, Ptl. Adam Celinski, and Ptl. Sarah McCrary boxed the assailant in a small wooded area where he was apprehended.  The black male was identified as Wendell Carl Thomas , aka. "Little Dooly".

The money from the store was recovered as was the firearm used in the Armed Robbery.  Thomas was transported to the Sylvester Police Department where he was booked with Armed Robbery, 2cts. Aggravated Assault, 2cts. False Imprisonment, Possession of a Firearm by a convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a crime.  Thomas is currently in the Worth County Jail.

Wendell Carl Thomas, aka. "Little Dooly" was a person of interest for a home invasion armed robbery that occurred on Pamela Drive in Sylvester on August 22, 2013 and another home invasion armed robbery that occurred on East Street in Sylvester on September 26, 2013.  Those investigations are still on-going.

Thomas committed an Armed Robbery of the Dairy Queen in Sylvester on July 30, 2006 and was incarcerated in the Georgia prison system until July 8, 2013.

I would like to commend the Sylvester Police Officers for a good job in the arrival and apprehension of Thomas.  Would also like to thank the Worth County Sheriff's Office for their response and assistance.
