AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

The victim in a weekend shooting near Cherry Tree Crossing is in serious condition, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Xavier Alvin, 31, was shot in the leg and the back at about 10:24 p.m. Sunday at 15th Street and Carver Drive, according to the sheriff's office.

Alvin told deputies he heard gunshots out of nowhere and was hit by two bullets.

He was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center Sunday. His condition was upgraded Monday to serious, Lt. Calvin Chew said.

Investigators are still looking into the incident.  No information about a suspect is available.
