FOSTORIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Police say Brenda Lonsway, 63, was found shot to death Friday morning at her Fostoria home near the Tri-County Veterinary Clinic on U.S. Route 23.

"Shortly before 4 o'clock this morning, Fostoria Police Department received a 911 call from the Lonsway residence in regards to Mr. Lonsway found his wife on the couch with a gunshot wound to her chest," said Seneca County Sheriff Bill Eckelberry.

Eckelberry confirmed a gun was recovered at the scene.

Because of the location of the woman's injuries, the sheriff says the death is suspicious.

"In the 30 years I've been with the sheriff's office, I have only had one other time had somebody take their life by shooting themselves in the chest. So...a little suspicious," said Eckelberry.

Multiple sheriff's cars and the coroner were on the scene. Lonsway's body was taken to the Lucas County Coroner's Office for an autopsy.

Lonsway's husband is currently being questioned by police. He is not being considered a person of interest at this time.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened. While many questions are still left unanswered, the sheriff says her death will be labeled suspicious until an investigation is complete.

Neighbors are shocked to hear the news, but speak very highly of Lonsway.

"That stuff don't normally happen here, you know? It's kind of a quiet town," said neighbor Tyler Cortez.
