    An overnight crash involving semi truck turned deadly on Interstate 75 in Crisp County.According to Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock, a car suffered a blowout and came to a rest in the traffic lane of I-75 south near exit 94.While awaiting assistance from a deputy, a tractor trailer slammed into the back of the car. LUCAS COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A local student charged with aggravated robbery appeared in court Thursday, after admitting to police he robbed a teen girl at gunpoint in Ottawa Hills last month.

According to police, a 13-year-old was walking a short bike path from school to Hempstead Road, when she was approached by three men. The victim says one of them pulled out a gun, demanding her wallet and cell phone. With the help of the Toledo Police Department, the Ottawa Hills Police Department tracked down the cell phone to a carryout, where it was sold for $100. The store led police to the suspect, resulting in his arrest.

Carl Reuther, with the OHPD, said the suspect told police it was not a real gun, even though the victim thought it was.

The girl's mother says more was stolen from her daughter than just a cell phone and $90. 

"Since this incident, my daughter is afraid to walk around our neighborhood. She is afraid to walk to school and back alone, even though she has done so for years. I am unsure how this crime will change her future thoughts and behavior," she said.

The Scott High School student was charged with aggravated robbery with a gun specification. Prosecutors decided not to try the teen as an adult. He was sentenced to three years for the crime: one year up to the age of 21 for the robbery, and two years for the fire arm charge. Both will be served consecutively.

In court, the 17-year-old's mother apologized to the victim and her family. The teen also apologized. 

"He feels really bad about what he did. Most importantly, I feel bad about what he did because she didn't deserve what happened to her," said his mother.

The judge said he was sentenced based on the family's request. 

"The way you are going to make it right for this family, is to take advantage of all the opportunities you have from now, from the day you come back to Lucas County. So you can look at yourself in the mirror and say, 'I did the best that I can do,' and that is your real apology to the family," said Judge Denise Navarre Cubbon.
