NASHVILLE, GA (WALB) -

At least two people have been confirmed dead in a crash after a police chase that ended in Nashville, GA.

The Berrien County Sheriff's Office says a suspect, Tim Rutland, is in custody and receiving treatment at a hospital.

Officials say one man and one woman died in the crash. Two other people were injured. One was flown to a hospital and another was taken by ambulance to another hospital.

The crash happened near the intersection of the Tifton-Enigma Highway near Badcock Furniture.

Officials said Rutland was running from officers and crashed into another vehicle.

According to authorities, Tim Rutland was involved in a hit and run in Tift County and fled the scene late last week. GSP chased him but he got away.

Tift County deputies spotted him Monday and pulled him over. As they attempted to arrest him he took off again and tried to run over a Tift County Sheriff's deputy. They chased him again, but he got away.

Deputies took out a warrant on Rutland for aggravated assault on a police officer.

Then Tuesday, Tift County deputies spotted him again and chased him all the way into Nashville. Berrien County Sheriff's office assisted once they reached the Berrien County line.

When Rutland got to the Nashville-Enigma Highway intersection in downtown Nashville, officials say he blew through the stop sign and T-boned a Chevy or GMC SUV with three people inside.

Charges in the crash have not yet been named. There is no word yet on Rutland's condition or the condition of the two other victims who were sent to the hospital.
